Last weekend, C2MCI partnered with Smith Engineering to deliver a workshop as part of their Black Youth in STEM program, an outreach initiative that offers hands-on science experience in a Black-positive space.
Aimed to support students in Grades 5 through 12, the Black Youth in STEM program is designed to provide free, culturally relevant, high-quality learning opportunities that make science engaging and accessible.
Workshop programming included tailored teaching blocks, hands-on learning stations, analytical facilities demonstrations and tours of the Crudden, Stamplecoskie, and Capicciotti Labs at Chernoff Hall. Participants explored topics such as carbene and nanocluster synthesis, photophysical characterization, bioconjugation for medical application, and self-assembly for corrosion protection.
Thank you to all who took part!
