Dr. Howe was recognized as one of three recipients of Queen’s annual Emerging Researcher Award, which honours early-career researchers for outstanding contributions across disciplines. Selected through a competitive multidisciplinary review process, recipients receive a $5,000 award recognizing excellence in research.
Dr. Howe was recognized for his work discovering new enzymes with potential applications in addressing environmental challenges, including contaminant breakdown, medicine production, and plastic degradation. This award is added to the several notable honours Dr. Howe has received, including the Polanyi Prize in Chemistry and the Thieme Chemistry Journals Award.
