Mark McKeown and Daniel Reddy are thrilled to announce that the American Chemical Society has officially designated two (Inter)National Historic Chemical Landmarks in honor of the late Dr. Alfred R. Bader—co-founder of Aldrich Chemical Company and Sigma-Aldrich (now MilliporeSigma in the USA/Canada) and a proud Queen's University alumnus. These prestigious landmarks will be established at Queen’s University and Bader Philanthropies, Inc. (Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA).
This recognition is the result of nearly three years of dedicated effort, made possible by the invaluable support of numerous individuals, groups, and organizations. It builds on the momentum of the “Celebrating the Late Dr. Alfred R. Bader: A 100th Birthday Symposium,” hosted in November 2024 by the Queen's University International Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society (Q-ACS). The event featured distinguished speakers from the fields of chemistry and the arts, including Bader Chairs, Bader Awardees, and a plenary lecture by Dr. Daniel J. Bader, CEO/President of Bader Philanthropies, Inc.
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this historic recognition possible.
