Summer Employment

A significant number of summer employment opportunities for undergraduate students exist in the Department of Chemistry. Whether you are interested in graduate studies and would like to experience the world of scientific research before making a decision, or are just looking for a summer job, it is important that you plan ahead. Here are some different types of opportunities available and application deadline information.

Internal Opportunities

There are 140-150 on-campus summer positions available, with a number of positions available within the Department of Chemistry. Please see the Career Services website for more details.

External Opportunities

Grand Challenges Canada’s Summer Student Program offers meaningful, hands-on work experience in the interdisciplinary field of global health.

The Ontario Rhône Alpes Summer Research Program (ORA/SRP) offers undergraduate and graduate students in sciences, engineering, and health science disciplines the opportunity to do research in a French lab over the summer months.

The Ontario Baden-Württemberg (OBW) programs provide students with an opportunity to learn about German language and culture in the South West corner of Germany. Short-term independent study abroad programs include the International Lake Constance Summer School (Internationale Bodensee Hochschule) and the Summer Research Program.

This internship award program offers students a unique and enriching opportunity to receive a 12-week or 16-week internship project in one of IRIC’s 29 research team working to advance science in the area of cancer research. The many internship projects offered explore a variety of topics and techniques related to systems biology, molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, etc.

RISE (Research Internships in Science and Engineering) gives undergraduate students in the fields of biology, chemistry, engineering, geology and physics the chance to spend a summer working with German doctoral students on research projects.
