Research in our group employs the principles and techniques of synthetic and physical organic chemistry to solve problems of relevance to biology and medicine, making well-equipped laboratories for synthetic organic chemistry, mechanistic organic chemistry and molecular biology essential.

Synthetic labs

Each researcher in our group has a 6-ft. fume hood, associated bench space, sink and laboratory equipment to carry out their synthetic chemistry. Additional equipment, such as our solvent purification systems, ovens, balances, and rotary evaporators are shared among group members.

Instrument labs

Our lab is well equipped with autosampler-driven gas and high performance liquid chromatographs (two analytical systems and one preparative), conventional, diode-array and stop-flow UV/Vis spectrophotometers, photochemical reactors, potentiostats and all the other little fixings.

Biological Labs

We share part of our lab with the Zechel group, equipped with all the necessary molecular biology equipment for PCR, gel electrophoresis and visualization, as well as incubators, centrifuges, cell disruptors, and a cold-room with FPLC.
