- Notice that there seem to be eight spheres (points)
associated with this unit cell (the box). It is important to
recall that only the part of the point that is inside the box is truly
in the unit cell. Only 1/8 of each corner point is actually inside
the unit cell
- Each unit cell has 8 × 1/8 = 1 point.
- Each lattice point has 6 nearest neighbours (we see
three of them here)
