Body-Centered cubic (bcc)
- Like the Simple-cubic structure but with one extra
lattice point in the centre of the cube.
- Three vectors of length a (cell
dimension = a × a × a).
- Vector angles are all 90º.
- A body centred cubic (bcc) unit cell has two points
associated with it.
- The corner points 8×1/8= 1
- Centre of the cell
= 1
-
total = 2
- Monatomic bcc lattices obviously have a coordination
number of 8.
