Kourosh Purdavie

Welcome

Hi,                                                                         I received my undergrad and masters degrees  in chemistry from respectively the Islamic Azad University, Tehran, and the University of Kurdistan, Sanandaj, both in Iran. I became a Permanent Resident of Canada in 2006 and, after living in Vancouver for a while, I joined Mike’s research group in August, 2010, as a Ph.D. student in the chemistry department at Queen’s University.  I am currently doing research on the synthesis and coordination complexes of a series of new phosphonium 1-indenylide ligands, anticipating  that they will function well as enantioselective catalysts for olefin polymerization and metathesis reactions. Organometallic chemistry is becoming more and more important because of its applications in a wide variety of synthetic chemistry and industrial processes, for which the area has won three Nobel Prizes  in chemistry since 2000. Hope to see you soon in our research group (and to welcome you to the poverty of student life)!
